The Chihuahua Jack Russell Terrier isn’t a purebred dog. As is to be expected from the name, it is a mix between a Jack Russell Terrier and a Chihuahua and has become known as the Jack Chi.
The best way to describe a Chihuahua terrier mix and let people know more about them is by looking at the features of both breeds.
These are just a handful of the characteristics that you can find in both breeds:

There is no denying that these are great dogs to have around family and friends. However, like many Chihuahua mixes they do tend to become overly attached to one particular individual.
While it does not mean that they do not share the love when it comes to family members, they bond to one person in particular. Like most Chihuahua breeds, it is important to be careful around younger children because of the size of the dog.
When it comes to grooming the Jack Chi, the coat type is important. You can find out more by looking at the crossed Chihuahua breeds coat. There is very little brushing and care involved with a short coat, whereas with longer hair, owners will want to prevent knots by brushing their dog more often.
The same goes for shedding. Look at the Chihuahua parent dog and determine the coat type. Especially around the summer time, Chihuahua mixes can shed quite a bit.

The Jack Chi can be a picky eater, however over time they will grow to be happy with the food that their owners put out. It is important to ensure that one does not overfeed their Chihuahua terrier mix. They have a tendency to overeat – they will continue to eat even when they are no longer hungry if food is left out.
The great thing about the Chihuahua Jack Russell Terrier is the fact that they can get enough exercise indoors. This does not mean that they do not love going outside for a walk or playing fetch, but it does mean that they are considered virtually self-sufficient when it comes to their exercise needs.
They do need their daily exercise though, so sticking them in a kennel throughout the day is not recommended.
Another great thing about the Jack Chi is that they are adaptable. They can flourish in a tiny apartment but would also do great in a four-bedroom house. As long as they have the ability to walk around and entertain themselves, they do not require a great deal of care.
Some Chihuahua Jack Russell Terriers have tree or grass allergies, it is also possible that they are allergic to soy products. As with most dogs, it is important to brush their teeth regularly in a gentle manner. Often, they have a problem with getting rid of baby teeth while their new teeth are coming in – this means that the baby teeth may need to be pulled.
