The Boston Terrier Chihuahua mix has become known as the Bo-Chi, the Chi-Bo, and the Boston Chi Party.
The Bo-Chi tends to resemble the Boston Terrier as opposed to the Chihuahua. It has a small muscular body which will weigh anything between 10 – 15 pounds when fully grown. Its head is square like that of the Boston Terrier, however its eyes are big, round and expressive, much like a Chihuahua. Its ears are larger than the Chihuahuas, and stand upright. Some Bo-Chis have the Boston Terriers corkscrew tail, whilst others have no tail at all. They have a shiny, short coat, which can be in a variety of colours and combinations. The most common coat is brindle.
These designer dogs are friendly, outgoing and faithful, which are intelligent and easy to train. They are good with everyone and make good family pets. This mix isn’t as yappy as other Chihuahua mixes, however it will ensure to bark and let you know if there is anyone in the vicinity of its home. Bo-Chis are good indoor dogs, however they like to be exercised and as such will need space to run around. Like other Chihuahua breeds, when outdoors, they do not like being out in either extreme cold or extreme heat.
This Chihuahua breed tends to be an overall healthy dog. Unlike the Chihuahua, it doesn’t suffer from weepy eyes. Attention will need to be paid to its ears, which will require cleaning often. The Bo-Chi is prone to an underbite, which can create problems in later life, however, this is something that can be addressed by feeding your dog soft food.
